Hello 2009!
We say a hearty welcome to a new USED Newsletter, the first in 2009, a year that people claim will be financially the "worst since the war!". We say "au contraire!" - 2009 will be a great year for bikes. Bike 2009 will be a year of reason and rationality, rolling out the red carpet in welcome for a better and more sustainable world. Of course, if you just lost millions (billions?) as your financial house of cards plunged to the ground and your only hope is that your Government will bail you out, then i guess your expectations of 2009 will be pretty low, but for the rest of us - we're going to ride. If you have ever read our Power of USED manifesto, you will know where we stand. We are looking for our own rhythm and destiny and will not be jamming with Nero, while Rome is burning...

USED Urban Steel Bikes: At long last the initial batch of bikes are here. They have had their first photo shooting and are ready to hit the road. The catalogue is finished. The bikes are really good, elegant, functional and stylish at the same time, with lots of little details to discover, like the beautiful lugs on the Tour and Track bikes. Richard Ayling from Allegro has done a great job of combining design with a good spec. Now we have to get the bikes into the stores as soon as possible. There are 5 different models. Singlespeed and Fixed Gear bikes, a MTB for the city, a real trucker of a bike (HHT) and a Tour bike in Randonneur style. Just find your own poison. All these bikes have a timeless design and a high-quality ChroMoly frame and fork - designed in Melbourne, Australia. Come on in and be convinced!

Catalogue: Here is the new USED Steel Bike online catalogue. We use Issuu, a new online service, that gives magazines, catalogues etc. the perfect stage. Issuu is the best. The conversion of your pdf is easy and the quality is excellent. You can flick pages and we have links in the catalogue to take you further if you so wish, and even music to listen to when you are browsing. This is the future of publishing. USED - Web 2.0 - Twitter: USED and the the age of Social Networking. I read an article from Carlton Reid (from Bike Biz in the UK) about Social Networking and the bike industry. I think this kind of promotion is very good for small companies like USED to spread the message about what we do. That brings us to Twitter, which is a Micro-Blogging service. In 140 characters., you can send messages that are read by people "following you". You in turn follow the "updates" or "tweets" from these people or others. Film stars, magazines, hotels etc. are all discovering Twitter. The system is very instant, the message reduced to what is needed without wasting too much time. We have been using Twitter for two months now and have about 60 pe ople following us (mainly bike people and mostly in English) and even Richard Branson checks out what USED is saying! USED - Web 2.0 - Blog: The USED blog is up and running. We have articles about the bike business, of course, but also about the environment and art (especially music). It's a colourful mixture of urban mobility, opinion, vision and art. We hope you will enjoy it.

Dear friends, welcome to the weird world of USED!
The USED Newsletter comes to you with a vibrant mix of modern mobility, ideas, art and opinions. We are also busy in the pursuit of dreams and a way to make the world work a touch better than it does right now. We try to be green in our beliefs and actions and think that living on the edge is better than living in a sea of complacency.

USED Update!
The Eurobike and the IFMA Cologne are over for 2007 and we can return to our daily business. Means: All of you who were at the trade fairs should have received the information that you asked us for. If not send us a short e-mail and we'll fix this problem. We had some great people on our booth, Gary Fischer, F.K. Additions to our webshop!
Brandnew to our shop are the bike jerseys in the style of the 50s from the Munich based designers Starshot! They have the Cactus10 logo on the shoulder and are the fashion hit of the season. They are thick and warm. We also offer the crazy helmets from Nutcase!

The Long John Revival starts here!
The classic of all cargo bikes will return in 2008! We convinced the swedish guys from MONARK that the Long John is necessary in the world of modern mobility and so they decided to start producing again. MONARK will be 100 years old in 2008, and what a way to celebrate. Preorder it right away by sending us a mail, it will appear in a limited edition only.

Now where do I keep my iPhone?
And ride a bike at the same time? The answer to this problem is a Bandee. Also known as "the backpack without a backpack", this belt fits over your shoulder and gives you enough space for your mobile phone, iPod, wallet, cigarettes, whatever. It also has two zipped compartments for small change and id. This fashion product allows you to keep your hands free when riding and does away with unsightly bulging pockets or handbags. The Bandee is available in many colors and designs. We like the dark colors and flower prints, but some of my best friends wear pink! It's a great Xmas gift and you can get it at the USED-Webshop.

Despite all this news we won't disregard our established products. We are very pleased that our ScooterBikes & ScooterTrikes, Monark, Carry Freedom, Xtracycle and Indicator are flying the flag of modern mobility ... and we think the future looks so bright (we gotta wear shades.... !). Ok, we got Timbuk 3 in there as well, so have a great "rest of the year" and we'll get back to you to wish you a Merry Christmas.

Hi USED people of the world!

It's time for a new USED Newsletter. The Trade Show season is with us and the months of September and October are going to be busy for the bike world. Andreas, Bob and Daniela from USED will be showing lots of new stuff at the Eurobike in Friedrichshafen and the IFMA in Cologne. We will also be visiting the Interbike in Las Vegas. Anyone out and about at these shows – come and be convinced what USED can do for you! Our parking space at the Eurobike is Outside Fairground B7/3 and at the IFMA it's Hall 7 Row D Booth 060. And we have new catalogs for you as well, see below.

Eurobike/IFMA: ScooterBike
USED will be showing the new developments in our ScooterBike line. The new HYBRID models will be on show with electric power assist systems for both the two and three wheeled versions. After a long search for the right system, we think we have found what we need. Come along for a test ride. Come and be convinced.

Eurobike/IFMA: Xtracycle
Xtracycle will be showing on the USED Stand. We are distributing the Xtracycle in Europe now and Ben from Xtracycle will be over for both shows to help us explain this great product. For USED it's another reason to use your car less. Carry almost anything with your bike. Come and be convinced.

Eurobike/IFMA: BiGBOY
BiGBOY out in force. The new Heavy Metal Steel bikes from USED and Cactus10 will be at the shows. Tested to withstand 135 kg additional weight, this is the bike for big boys. It's a little “retro” and some “high-tech” mixed with pastel shades to power up the Zen of Biking. We have the fattest tires, leather saddles and hand soldered, lugged frames from Germany. Come and be convinced.

Eurobike/IFMA: VSF All-Ride
The VSF has extended its ï¿½All-Rideï¿½ concept of no-problem bikes. New this year and showing for the first time on the VSF stand is a ScooterBike All-Ride. This is a special ScooterBike configured by the guys at VSF and Klaus Schröder, with an 8-speed Shimano Alfine, an encapsulated chain system from Hebie and hub dynamo. This bike has been well tested by the VSFand comes with an extended warranty. This even includes punctures and chain greasing for the first three years! Come and be convinced.

Eurobike/IFMA: indicator
indicator, our range of safety articles for bike, outdoor and leisure activities will also be on show at the Eurobike and at the IFMA. This line of practical and stylish accessories is taken some time to catch on in Germany, mainly because it's not just a bike product, but we are sure that the market is there. Come and be convinced.

Eurobike/IFMA: CarryFreedom
Carry Freedom and their transport trailers will also be on show. The very successful Bamboo Trailer project for the 3rd world will be presented at the IFMA on three consecutive days on the main stage. So go and see Bob telling the world about this project. Come and be convinced.

Eurobike/IFMA: Monark
At the IFMA this year we will be showing the complete Monark range. The transport bikes will be on show at an exclusive stand for our Swedish friends. Conny from Sweden will also be there to answer any of your questions, like why is the Swedish soccer team crap?? He will also show you the new Post bikes that Monark have been making for the Swedish and the Finnish Post Office with power assist systems. Come and be convinced.

Anyone in Europe in September should come and visit us at the Eurobike in Friedrichshafen and IFMA in Cologne. Both are open to the public on certain days and worth your while. ScooterBike Roadster nominated for the Design Preis 2007!
Wow! Our ScooterTrike Roadster 1.5 has been nominated for the Design Prize 2007. This prize is known as the ï¿½Prize of Prizesï¿½ in Germany. 20 nominees will receive the Silver Design Prize and 5 the Gold Prize. But just being nominated is a huge achievement and we are over the moon about it.
